Like most communities in Igbo land, the people of Iheagu-Nru celebrate the annual harvest of the yam—the king of crops. Usually held between August and October, this event signifies the official opening of the harvest season. No elder or titled man consumes the new yam until the traditional rites and thanksgivings are completed.
