When a woman begins labour unexpectedly, the nearest maternity unit is down a road that rainy season makes treacherous. When an elder has a cardiac event, every minute lost on that journey is irreversible. This is the healthcare reality of Breme today. And it is a reality that a dedicated Primary Health Care Centre within the community could fundamentally transform. #0 Dedicated health facilities confirmed within Breme #1 PHC centre needed to serve all community villages Currently, Breme residents access care through patent medicine dealers at the community level — the most accessible but least equipped first point of contact — and through Nsukka's hospitals and private clinics for anything more serious. 🚨 IMAGINE LIVING IN A COMMUNITY THAT FEEDS ITS ENTIRE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA — AND THEN BEING TOLD THE ROAD TO THAT COMMUNITY HAS BEEN CUT OFF. COMPLETELY. FOR OVER 50 YEARS. That is not a hypothetical. That is Agu-Umabor Autonomous Community — a farming community in the highland heartland of Eha-Alumona, Nsukka LGA, Enugu State. Officially recognized by its own people as "one of the food baskets of Nsukka Local Government Area." 🌾 And yet — the only road that connects it to the rest of the world has been swallowed by gully erosion. A journey that should take 15–20 minutes to Nsukka LGA headquarters now takes over 2 hours via a punishing detour through Obollo-Afor. Read that again. Two hours. Instead of fifteen minutes. Here is the documented reality that the Agu-Umabor Elites Group has fought to make heard: 🔴 2018 — Governor Ugwuanyi promised the road at a community rally. The community celebrated. 🔴 2021 — Partial earthwork began. Community acknowledged it. Asked for more. 🔴 2022 — Eha-Alumona youth BANNED all political campaigns until roads were fixed. 🔴 January 2024 — Elites Group sent SOS Letter to Governor Peter Mbah: the project was abandoned; a massive gully would soon cut the community off completely. 🔴 September 2024 — Second SOS sent: the community is now fully cut off. 🔴 May 2025 — Gunmen abducted two residents on the isolated road. A 20-year-old woman taken. Families contacted for ransom. "No place is safe any longer." This is not a governance failure on one front. The road failure is a healthcare failure. A food security failure. An education failure. A security failure. Every emergency that hits Agu-Umabor hits harder because no ambulance, no police vehicle, no produce truck can reliably reach them.
